The Bayelsa state government has declared a 2 day fast to pray and thank God for keeping it afloat despite the recession.
The fasting and prayer program started on October 31, 2016, and will end on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
The state government also declared Wednesday, November 2, 2016, as a public holiday, in commemoration of its annual thanksgiving celebration.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Jonathan Obuebite, “We, therefore, urge everyone who believes in the Almighty God to come out and thank Him, irrespective of all political differences and affiliations. We must all come together and worship God for holding and keeping the state together through the thick, thin and trying times recently faced.”
This is following Governor Seriake Dickson revelation that the state government can only pay half salaries to civil servants.
